Comparison of Clinical Results, Contrast Sensitivity and Optical Quality Following the Implantation of CT LUCIA 611P and TECNIS-1 ZCB00 MonofocalIOLs -12 Month Outcomes

Purpose: To compare the clinical performance, contrast sensitivity and optical quality, following implantation of CT LUCIA 611 P TECNIS-1 monofocal IOLs cataract surgery. Design-Prospective, interventional, non-randomized comparative study. Setting- Nethradhama Super Speciality Eye Hospital, Bangalore, India. Methods: Eligible patients, undergoing phacoemulsification received with 611P or TECNIS-One piece (TECNIS-1) IOLs. Results: Hundred eyes from 100 patients were sequentially divided into groups, 50 in each group.Intra-operatively, mean unfolding time was significantly longer (35.16 ± 10.50 sec) TECNIS-1, compared to group (12.93 3.80 sec), p= 0.00.At 12 months, 80% (40) 76%(38) had cumulative UDVA 20/20 better. No significant differences found between values post-op UDVA, CDVA, (all spatial frequencies), Objective Scatter Index (OSI), Modular Transfer Function (MTF) both groups. A higher value internal coma SA for Tecnis-1 IOL noted (p<0.05). However, there no difference total HOA, Six intra-operative adhesions haptics optic / haptic, requiring additional manipulation. Conclusion: At one year, delivered comparable outcomes.However, less SA, smoother insertion without any issues due poor loading.
